Behind the Scenes

Homes That Work is a full-time professional organizing service. We are passionate about teaching our clients about getting and staying organized. Here’s a little background information about Homes That Work founder:

Lisa Wendt originally founded Sort-it-Out in 1999. In 2005, Sort-It-Out was renamed to Homes That Work, a name better fitting her vision of creating organized homes that are beautiful in function as well as form - "homes that work."

Lisa takes pride in making each organizing session fun and inspiring.  She recognizes that there is more than one way to organize and specializes in offering multiple solutions for each client's needs.  Her flexibility and dedication to putting the client in the driver's seat - helps clients reach maximum potential in a casual, supportive, and positive environment.

Lisa strives to create organized homes that begin at the front door and continue throughout - from attics to basements and everything in between! As she begins the journey with clients during an assessment, they visualize both the start AND the finish of each project.

Lisa works at being environmentally-friendly by finding new and creative uses for client's current organizing supplies and household items.  Homes That Work also offers great donation resources when clients are ready to pass along items they no longer need or love.

Lisa is an active member in the National Association of Professional Organizers (NAPO), the Minnesota chapter, NAPO, and is the chapter's Past President. She is also a member of the elite Golden Circle of NAPO. Lisa was awarded the 2005 NAPO Presidents Award for her outstanding dedication to NAPO chapters as a volunteer on the Chapter Relations Committee.
